Chapter 7

Eleven-forty five saw me sat and waiting at a quiet table in Alfredo’s. A restaurant Fliss had chosen as being sufficiently out of the way that we weren’t likely to run into anyone we knew. The last thing we needed was a nosey soccer mom from the school PTA spotting me on a lunch date with another woman. Especially not one as attractive and sexy as Andrea.

As Andrea arrived my first thought was that I’d forgotten just how sexy and beautiful she was. As she weaved her way through the other closely packed tables she gave me a wonderful warm smile. Just for a moment making me forget all the angst and highs and lows of the last few hours.

For a woman on the wrong side of thirty-five, she looked remarkably good. Especially considering she’d just been through a painful divorce. I recalled from previous conversations that her Latina looks derived from her Puerto Rican heritage, and I tried not to ogle as her hips and boobs swayed their way across the room.

Aside from her lovely face and smile, she was a very shapely woman. ‘All woman’ as they say, buxom in its most perfect form. Big, natural boobs (at least as large as Pip’s, but no need for the surgeon’s knife, wide but shapely hips paired with a narrow waist and an ass that promised all kinds of fun.

“Hey, Josh,” she beamed.

“Hey, Andrea,” I smiled back, suddenly feeling ridiculously guilty and juvenile, doing my best to hide it and failing dismally.

I felt like a naughty schoolboy – out on a mixture of a first date and an illicit rendezvous strictly banned and disapproved.

“You look … you look great,” I bumbled with a tongue-tied mouth.

“Thanks, babe,” she grinned, leaning over to kiss me on the cheek, the smell of her perfume strangely memorable and adding to the whole surreal time travel back to my teenage years.

Slowly we settled down and I returned year-by-year from the acne-ridden youth who’d started the meal to the mature, married father of two I’d temporarily mislaid.

At first, we talked about safe and happy topics. We talked about my two kids (Andrea had been Fliss’s PA for five years and knew our two kids quite well), we talked about Andrea’s only child. Her daughter Gina who was a Freshman at a local college studying to be a teacher. We skirted the difficult topics of ‘my situation’ (the reason we were here) and Andrea’s difficult divorce. Discussing Fliss seemed safe territory – both of us agreeing that she was fundamentally a loving, nice person – but that she could be a total pain in the ass when the mood or the situation took her.

Andrea commiserated with me, asking me what she’d been like as a big sister when we’d been growing up. She laughed long and hard at some of the stories I told her about Fliss and the things she’d done. At the tellings off she’d had from mom and dad. Making sure to balance the account by talking of the times Fliss had looked after me.
